Selectolyte - Simple & Economical Treatment
Rural Chemical Industries (Aust.) Pty Ltd.
Selectolyte - What Does It Do?
Selectolyte restores the balance of the body fluids, acidity and alkalinity and body fluid electrolytes. It promotes recovery from stress produced by heat, disease and other conditions.
Prevents Mycotoxin Contamination in Poultry.
RCI products are sold world-wide in cooperation with a network of highly trained distributors. For full contact details in your region, locate an RCI distributor near you.
Stocade is a formulation of three fat soluble vitamins, A, D3 and E, used for massive dose administration to poultry through their drinking water. Rapid absorption of Stocade results in a 50% increase in the levels of Vitamin A absorbed compared with oil, oily emulsion or soluble powders.
Selectolyte reinforces the body's resistance to stress and disease organisms.
For example at 400g/100 litres of drinking water, Selectolyte contributes 650 mg sodium (Na+); zero chloride; 250 mg potassium (K+) per litre. 1,300 mg of bicarbonate ion (HCO-3) is also supplied.
This is a significant addition to the ions of the total diet and provides a reservoir of positive and negative ions in a ready-to-use form. It is a simple and reliable way of increasing the value of (Na+ + K+ - Cl-) which is necessary in the hostile conditions of thermal stress.
The high level of added bicarbonate ions makes the control of Acid:Base Balance much easier for the animal.
At the same time chloride levels have been reduced to zero because Selectolyte does not contain Potassium Chloride (KCl) and Sodium Chloride (NaCl) which are commonly used in electrolyte products.
Selectolyte - What is it?

Selectolyte is a powder mixture formulated specifically to supply essential body salts and electrolytes.
Selectolyte replaces:
- Sodium
- Potassium and
- Bicarbonate
in body fluids without adding unnecessary chloride.
Selectolyte is of special benefit to young birds suffering from any condition of stress which increases body temperature, fluid intake and output and loss of electrolytes. These conditions include:- Wet droppings
- De-beaking
- Vaccination
- Temperature above the zone of comfort (10-20°C)
- Disease e.g. bronchitis
- Overcrowding
- Transportation.
When birds are under stress, feed intake is reduced but the requirement for macro and micro minerals is not. Remember at 28°C birds are eating 12% less feed, i.e. 1.5% for every 1 °C in excess of 20°C.
How To Use Selectolyte
Selectolyte may be added to drinking water or feed
Drinking Water
To control production loss: Add 200 gm of Selectolyte to each 100 litres of drinking water to be consumed. Continue for 7 -14 days.
To treat heat stress: Add 600 gm of Selectolyte to each 100 litres of drinking water. Continue until recovery Withdraw feed for two hours or so during the heat of the day.
Feed
To control production loss: Add 2 kg per 1,000 kg of feed
To treat heat stress: Add 6 kg per 1,000 kg of feed
